RA JUNIORS 5 ST FRANCIS 4 The RA juniors faced unbeaten St Francis at Brinkburn road this week. The RA got off to a bad start, a defensive error gifted the visitors a goal in the first minute. The juniors battled back and a powerful run from Andy Grey took him into the penalty area where he was brought down, Tom Watson converted the penalty. Just a minute later a Callum Franklin corner was turned in by Lewis Harrison to give the RA the lead. In the 16th minute a powerful Franklin shot from outside the box gave the St Francis keeper no chance. The juniors were now passing the ball confidently and went close again, a Jamie Stokes shot being well saved. On 23 minutes it was 4-1, good work from Jack ridley finished well by Tom Watson. St Francis pulled a goal back just before half time to make it 4-2 at the break.
Early in the 2nd half good chances were missed by Stokes and Ridley. On 67 minutes St Francis scored again this time a header from a free kick, but the RA bounced back quickly when Jamie stokes was fouled in the area, Watson converting for his hat trick. In the 75th minute Andy grey's run was again halted in the penalty area to give the juniors a third spot kick of the game, but this time the keeper saved Watsons shot. A last minute goal from St Francis had the RA supporters checking their watches but they hung on to win 5-4.
