The RA juniors were back in Durham cup action this week with a home tie against Tyneside juniors. The game started at a fast pace with the RA creating early chances, after 7 minutes the Tyneside keeper picked up a backpass to give the RA a direct free-kick, the kick was rolled to Callum Franklin who fired into the low left side of the goal. After 10 minutes a speculative shot from Franklin from over 40 yards out dropped over the Tyneside keeper and into the net. 14 minutes later Jack Ridley in acres of space on the left wing beat the keeper with a powerful shot. The Brinkburn boys were well in control now. With 30 minutes gone Franklin completed his hat-trick with fantastic 25 yard shot which gave the Tyneside keeper no chance.With 2 minutes to go before half time a great ball from Liam Allen to Ridley who crossed the ball for Tom Watson to make it 5-0 at half time.
It took until the 52nd minute for the RA to get another goal, Tom Watson clear on goal and lobbing the ball over the advancing Tyneside keeper. Tyneside created few chances with a 25 yard shot forcing Matty 'teflon' Andrews into an amazing save being the best of them. The RA's final goal came 5 minutes from time with substitute Lewis Harrison firing home from the edge of the box.
