The R.A. Juniors have been in existence for only 3 seasons, gaining two promotions and one championship, but this week-end they reached the semi-finals of the league cup, putting them in the best four teams in Teesside. This achievement exceeds all their previous efforts and everyone connected with the team, players, coaches, and supporters should be proud of their efforts. Against a very big and strong Richmond Town the R.A. won tackle after tackle and deservedly took the lead through man of the match Lewis Harrison. A determined Richmond never let the scoreline affect them and competed for every ball, as would be expected from any team at this stage of the competition. Richmond never got to grips with the R.A.'s off-side tactic and therefore there possession was wasted, whereas the R.A. created plenty of chances in difficult pitch conditions and kept control of the ball and possession. A mistake from a dropped ball allowed Richmond to break away and equalize which left the tie wide open. Both teams created chances with Shaun "the wall" Harrison making some fine saves and clearances to keep the tie alive. When the full-time whistle went the teams could not be separated and extra time was to follow. The decision to train in the snow a week ago proved crucial as the R.A. seemed the fitter and stronger team. A free kick from twenty five yards was to be the deciding factor in this emphatic tie, Lewis Harrison put the ball into the corner of the net and enjoyed the congratulations of his team mates putting the R.A. into the last four of the league cup.
