RA 5 Thirsk Falcons 1

Darlington RA juniors entertained Thirsk falcons in their final home game of the season. The first big chance of the match fell to James Howell who's 25 yard shot hit the crossbar with the keeper well beaten. In the 22nd minute the juniors finally took the lead with Lewis Harrison firing home from 6 yards. RA now had full possesion and the stroke of half-time Lewis Harrison made it 2-0 with a header that sneaked under the Thirsk keeper.

The RA continued the pressure on the  Thirsk defense and scored a third goal when Kev Ditchburn powered into the penalty area and passed to Jack Ridley who set up Tom Watson to score. RA keeper Matty "teflon" Andrews spent most of the game with nothing to do but on a rare attack from thirsk he gifted the Falcons a goal when he dropped a simple shot. RA quickly recovered a minute later when a Jack Ridley shot was turned in by RA top scorer Tom Watson for his 37th goal of the season and gave RA a 4-1 lead. With the RA in full control there was still time for a fifth goal, the RA's flying winger Andy Grey went past two defenders and fired a right foot shot into the top corner. With only one game remaining the RA know a win will guarantee a top 2 finish and it may even bring them the title.
